Shannon Bliss was kidnapped at the age of 16, but after eleven years she has finally escaped from her captors. She wants to live a normal and free life, but she knows too much about the family that has held her prisoner for more than a decade. Shannon has evidence that can put the crime family in prison for a long time. When she finally decides that she is willing to take the risk of returning home and helping the police put her captors behind bars, she realizes that she can’t do everything alone. She turns to private investigator Matthew Dane to help her regain her life.
Matthew has no problem with helping Shannon; in fact he finds her circumstances interesting and a bit challenging. As he gets to know Shannon and understand everything that she has been through, Matthew realizes that helping her regain her freedom is going to come with some risks.
Matthew and Shannon begin to work together to collect the evidence Shannon has stored all of the country to put her kidnappers in prison. Along the way Matthew learns exactly what happened to Shannon during her eleven years as a prisoner, and he can’t believe everything that she has gone through. Matthew also begins to uncover the truth of what happened on the Memorial Day weekend that Shannon was abducted. He knows that protecting her and keeping her safe is going to be challenging. He is up for the challenge and willing to do whatever it takes to protect Shannon from her captors, but can he protect Shannon from the truth behind her abduction?

I have enjoyed reading all of Dee Henderson’s books, and “Taken” did not disappoint me. From chapter one until the end, I was captivated by the characters and the storyline. Dee Henderson knows how to hold a reader’s attention, and she held mine once again with this intriguing story. She includes characters from her other books which I liked because it made me feel like I got to see what has happened in their lives after their stories. If you have not read Dee Henderson’s other books, I would recommend them. You don’t have to necessarily have to read them in order to know what is going on in this story, but it will help. I highly recommend this book to anybody you likes mystery and adventure.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest review.
