by Regina Jennings
Miranda Wimplegate helps her family run an auction house in Boston. When a family heirloom portrait is mistakenly sold through their auction house, her family is charged with negligence. Miranda decides that she will do anything that she can to help clear her family’s name. So when her Grandfather announces that he is going to Missouri to try and find the missing painting, Miranda decides that she will go with him. When they reach Missouri, things are not what they expect and Miranda begins to think that they made a terrible mistake for even coming to this little country town.

Wyatt Ballentine has worked is entire life to uphold his father’s legacy and follow in his father’s shoes. So when he learns that some rich family from Boston has purchased the auction barn that he and his father have spent their entire lives working at, he is outraged. When the Boston aristocrat arrives, Wyatt is even more upset because he and his granddaughter know absolutely nothing about selling livestock.

When Wyatt and Miranda first meet they cannot stand each other and wish that the other would just go away and mind their own business, but as they get to know one another and begin to spend time together their feelings for each other soon begin to change. As they grow closer together, they cannot imagine life without the other, but will society restrictions keep them apart or will they have what it takes to break the rules and expectations that have been set for them?

“At Love’s Bidding” is an exciting book and a great read. Regina Jennings truly captured my heart with her lovable characters and fascinating plot. There are also several lessons that we can learn throughout the book about forgiveness, believing in herself, and completely trusting God in all things. If you are looking for a fun book to read, then this is the book for you.

“Step by Step” is beautifully written and a very good read. I was held captivated from the very beginning of the story. This was the second story that I have read by Candace Calvert, and I was not disappointed. The first story I read by her was in a novella collection with other authors, and I really enjoyed that short story, so I was excited to read another one of her stories. I was pleasantly surprised to find the characters from that first story that I read (“The Recipe”) mentioned in this book. It added a nice touch to the story. Even without the aforementioned characters this was a terrific book. The book is filled with thrilling action, romance, and hope. I highly recommend this story to anyone that loves a good adventure.
