Hostage negotiator, Skyler Brennan, is off duty when her life is put in danger. While at the bank, she finds herself as a hostage in a bank robbery. She tries her best to resolve the situation without anybody getting hurt, but when things begin to escalate one of the bank robbers is killed. The other bank robber blames Skyler for the death of his partner and threatens revenge. He takes Skyler as a safety measure in order to get out of the bank alive, but when a FBI agent who is trying to gain a promotion shoots the robber in order to save Skyler, the bank robber releases Skyler and manages to escape. Skyler is surprised to discover the FBI agent is none other than her ex-boyfriend Logan Hunter. Logan left her behind a few years ago in order to become a hot shot FBI agent in Chicago and has never looked back. He finds himself back in Portland heading up the bank robbery investigation, but he did not except to run into Skyler so soon. His entire promotion hinges on whether or not he can catch the bank robbers by the deadline he has been given. When Skyler reenters his life, he finds himself with a choice to make – his career or love. Will he be able to attain them both or will everything come crashing down around him?

“Silent Night Standoff” is the first book in the First Responders Series. In this book we are introduced to the First Responders Unit. I really enjoyed this book, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Susan Sleeman captured my attention from the very beginning and held me riveted until the very end. The story is filled with many twists and turns and kept me in suspense until the very end. The mystery, romance, and drama were tied together beautifully. I was not able to put the book down until I was finished, and even then I wanted to keep reading more about the wonderful characters in the book. I would highly recommend this book to anybody who loves a good mystery.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

The farm is about to gone under and Tracy is doing all that she can to keep the business going. Michael and Tracy meet each other under less than ideal circumstances, but the more they get to know each other the more they want to get to know each other. However, they are both harboring secrets that could keep them from ever finding love and peace again.

I have always loved Irene Hannon’s suspense novels, so when Hope Harbor became available, I thought I would give it a shot. I was not disappointed. This book is beautifully written and is filled with romance, redemption, and many valuable lessons. I fell in love with Michael and Tracy from the very beginning, but the ‘secondary’ characters were just as lovable and inspiring. If you enjoy Irene Hannon’s suspense novels, then I would definitely recommend this book to you.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading “Gone Without A Trace” by Patricia Bradley. Once I started reading I could not put the book down. She held me captive from page one until the conclusion of the story. The story is filled with action, romance, drama, and tons of suspense. I haven’t read the first two books in the series, but after reading this one I plan to go back and read them. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a good mystery.

She does not believe like they do, but remains with the Shakers so that she can have food to eat and a place to sleep. When strange things begin happening among the Shakers and people begin to die under mysterious circumstances, Carlyn falls under intense scrutiny. Carlyn keeps insisting that she is innocent, but the Shaker leaders do not want to believe her. Will she finally be able to prove her innocence before it is too late or will she meet with an untimely demise herself?

I had a very hard time getting interested in this book. This was the first time that I read a book about the Shakers and it will probably be my last. The Shakers beliefs are very strange and they don’t believe in the Bible or God at all. I was kind of frustrated with Carlyn because she knew that they did not believe like she did, yet she still went to live with them. She kept pushing aside her mother’s words of wisdom especially about praying. There is a hint of suspense and mystery in the book, but it was so scarce and spread out that it didn’t really capture my attention.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing in exchange for my honest review.
